At TJESDS, we uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and publishing ethics. Authors are advised to carefully consider the implications of withdrawing a manuscript once it has been submitted for review or accepted for publication. This policy outlines the conditions and procedures for manuscript withdrawal.

1. Withdrawal Before Peer Review

Authors may withdraw their manuscript without penalty before the peer review process has begun. A formal withdrawal request must be submitted by the corresponding author to the editorial office via email, stating the manuscript title, ID, and reason for withdrawal.

Email: editor@tjesds.org.ng

2. Withdrawal During Peer Review

If a manuscript is under review, withdrawal is discouraged unless there are valid and justifiable reasons (e.g., ethical concerns, duplicate submission errors, or authorial disputes). The editorial office must be informed with a clear explanation.
Note: Withdrawal at this stage will be recorded and may affect the author's future submissions.

3. Withdrawal After Acceptance

Withdrawal after acceptance but before publication is considered unethical except in cases of serious academic or ethical issues (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification). The editorial board will review such cases before approval is granted.

Unauthorized withdrawal after acceptance without formal approval may result in a blacklisting of the author(s) from future submissions.

4. Withdrawal After Publication

Once published, a paper cannot be withdrawn. However, authors may request a retraction if there is a significant error or ethical issue. Retraction requests must be submitted with full justification and are subject to editorial and possibly third-party (e.g., COPE) review.

5. Sanctions for Unethical Withdrawal

Unethical or unapproved withdrawal of manuscripts at any stage will be treated seriously. Sanctions may include:

Notification to the author's institution or funding agency

Blacklisting of the author(s) for future submissions

Public notice of unethical conduct if deemed necessary

6. Duplicate Submission

Authors must confirm that the manuscript has not been submitted or published elsewhere. If discovered

that the manuscript is under review or published in another journal, it will be rejected and reported as a case of academic misconduct.

7. How to Withdraw a Manuscript

To withdraw a manuscript formally, the corresponding author must send an email with the subject:
“Manuscript Withdrawal Request – [Manuscript ID and Title]” and provide:

Full names of all authors

Reason for withdrawal

Confirmation that all co-authors agree to the withdrawal
